I get lots and lots of emails every single week with product ideas or requests for this, that or the other, but I recently got an email from a Sarah at STrathclyde University, and she was researching to create a wearable neck support for manual workers who will support the neck continuously in various positions and for it to prevent injury when working overhead without interfering with the work performance.
I personally know that after slapping a few lids on my neck aches from looking upwards and yes its something you get used to, but it has always made me think about the long-term damage that is caused by just this one position.
So Sarah for her research needs to gain the opinions and knowledge from you guys the professional plasterers and other professionals who have manual trades that have experienced any form of neck pain as a direct result of their work. This information will help greatly in contributing towards market research for the project and defining the key issues that need targeting. This information can be provided from a short online survey:

The project will result in a physical, working prototype of a final concept designed to meet the aim. Commercialisation of the product will depend on the success of the prototype.

Ouch!! My elbow was starting to play up just before I came off the tools full time… its hard graft on your body and anything that helps and make it easier whether its a speedskim a Nela Superflex or a neck support then I am all for it 🙂
