Both Knauf UK Training Schools, The Knauf Learning Zone at Sittingbourne, Kent and the Immingham School, NE Lincolnshire, have been fully accredited by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). CITB is the main awarding body within the construction industry and with changes to CSCS cards coming into force, it is becoming increasingly important for site workers to possess recognised industry qualifications.
Knauf runs a total of 13 training courses, all of which have now been fully accredited by the CITB. The courses on offer cover the full range of Knauf products and systems, including drylining, flooring, spray plaster and render. All of the courses are delivered by a team of fully qualified and experienced instructors with a wealth of industry knowledge.
Courses run over one or two days and attendees can expect tools and equipment to be provided as well as a certificate of attendance. After a course is completed, there will be a follow-up assessment within 12 months and some courses can lead to the awarding of a NVQ.
Knauf’s Training Schools are overseen by Training Services Manager, Chris Lee, who explains the importance of the centres and the recent CITB accreditation: “Gaining CITB accreditation for our training courses is fantastic news. It means not only can we deliver high-quality training to site workers, but also enable them to gain a recognised qualification that they can show to their employers and customers to demonstrate their work has been independently assessed by a recognised training provider.
“As a manufacturer, the Training Schools serve a number of key purposes for Knauf. We are increasingly finding that site workers are looking to diversify their skillset to ensure their skills remain up to date in a rapidly changing industry. Attending a Knauf training course allows them to gain new skills in a safe training environment and helps contribute to easing the skills shortage, which is a major concern for employers within the construction industry.
