Dulux Trade is celebrating after Bob Hooker & Son, who are Select Decorators, scooped a top prize at the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) Premier Trophy 25th Anniversary Awards 2013.
The Daventry-based company walked away with the winning prize for the Small Contractor category at the awards, which are held each year to recognise the wide variety of skills and new innovative products within the painting and decorating trade. Entrants are invited to nominate their best work across a range of categories, which also includes Decorative and Industrial.
Bob Hooker & Son’s winning project was a spectacular renovation of Farm Residence in West Northamptonshire, a Grade Two listed building that had been empty for 15 years and required extensive work to restore it to its former glory. The property’s age and condition were key considerations when selecting colours and materials, and Dulux Trade Diamond Matt was used for some of the more intricate work in order to preserve the finish for longer.
A Dulux Trade Contract Partner, Ambrose Ellis Painting Contractors Ltd, was also successful on the night, coming first in the Commercial category for its refurbishment of former department store, Central Village on Cropper Street, Liverpool. The project was a revamp of the upper four floors into a 126-unit apartment hotel, in collaboration with other trades. The contractor used Diamond Matt in Brilliant White and combined this with paper hangings to give a superb finish that earned them high praise from developers.
In addition to the winning entries, more than a third of shortlisted award submissions featured Dulux Trade products.
