It’s been 5 big solid years for The Plasterers Forum and in those years, we have grown to be the biggest plastering related resource to have every existed with almost 500,000 posts and approximately 30,000 topics. So it goes without saying that TPF is going places.
I have been exceptionally sidetracked the last 12 months with my renovation project and a number of other big projects and after settling into my new office, I have been looking at ways to improve the forum for its many many users, and I decided that it was time to make it mobile friendly and a lot slicker.
The Plasterers Forum will not get anything but the best, and I have been looking at a number of forum solutions for a while and decided it was time to make that jump and go for the best one available.
The software I chose is a very popular one for lots of “super” forums around the globe, and so I am confident that this software will see me through and help the continued growth of TPF.
So what are the features of The Plasterers Forum now???
- Very fast pages loads
- Easier for us to moderate
- Easier for members to navigate
- Mobile responsive
- Facebook integration
- Easier image uploading
- The swear filter works better
- Ignore feature
Yes, these are just a few of the features we have available but I have only just scraped the surface. From my point of view, its a lot easier on the admin side as I can now do a lot of the maintenance from my mobile device.
If you have not already gone over and have a look at The Plasterers Forum and see for yourself.
I am sure you will like the new look and although the actual look has not changed massively it will (I am sure) will impress you.
There are a number of bugs we are working through, but it is coming together slowly, if you do spot anything that you don’t like or doesn’t work then, please let me know so that I can fix it.
Thanks again for your support and I look forward to seeing you over at the forum.

Hi there
Looking for some advice on plastering a ceiling in a tenement close?
The original ceiling is lath and plaster and part needs replaced due to water ingress.
The ceiling is painted with gloss, what would be the system needed to plaster over the gloss? Multi finish or one coat obviously pva 1st and would it need scored to give better grip?
Any help be great
Cheers

Hiya
I would always overboard a lathe and plaster ceiling as 99% of the time they will come down… This will solve all of your problems and will be a better job…
Unless you cannot overboard the ceiling the I would look at using a bonding agent like blue grit or wickes bonding agent or betakontact which are all easily available 🙂
But I would look at overboarding above all 🙂
